چکیده

Abstract Kaolinite is a phyllosilicate clay of type 1:1 which usually associated with iron oxides in nature. The abundant Terra Rossa soils located the Gunungkidul, karst area. Based on structure and nature it’s charge, it has potential to adsorb anionic heavy metals, especially hexavalent chromium. Heavy metal chromium form very dangerous for human health mostly produced from waste leather tanning factories that are widely available Yogyakarta. purpose this study was investigate possibility using soil as an adsorbent remove Cr (VI) aqueous solution. experiment carried out by mixing dose of: 1 – 4.5 grams fine soil, Φ 0.5 mm into 50 ml solution containing 10 ppm pH 5 3. Stirred at 200 rpm 2 hours, then centrifuged 3500 20 minutes. filtrate given phosphoric acid diphenyl carbazide measured spectrophotometer wavelength 540 nm. results showed average percentage removal = 30%, while 3 49%. absorption (mg/g) decreased line increasing dose. Absorption graphs Freundlich Langmuir models pH3 show R =0.9264 0.9361 respectively, pH5 values 0.3752 0.3461, respectively. Adsorption capacity according 1.7331 mg/g, 5.28 mg/g adsorption site affinity 0.1894 L/mol.

Determination of hexavalent chromium in aqueous and alkaline soil extracts

A fast, simple, and reliable method for determination of hexavalent chromium species in soil aqueous and alkaline extracts has been developed. The procedure is based on the ion-pair extraction of Cr(VI) with methyltrioctylammonium chloride (Aliquat 336) into xylene. The extract is analyzed by flame (FAAS) or electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The method allows the detection ...

Efficient removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions using autohydrolyzed Scots Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) sawdust as adsorbent

In this work, a low-cost lignocellulosic adsorbent with high biosorption capacity is proposed, suitable for the efficient removal of hexavalent chromium from water and wastewater media. The adsorbent was produced by autohydrolyzing Scots Pine (Pinus Sylvestris) sawdust. The effect of the autohydrolysis conditions, i.e., pretreatment time and temperature, on hexavalent chromium biosorption was i...

Melanin-embedded materials effectively remove hexavalent chromium (CrVI) from aqueous solution

BACKGROUND Currently, it is recognized that water polluted with toxic heavy metal ions may cause serious effects on human health. Therefore, the development of new materials for effective removal of heavy metal ions from water is still a widely important area. Melanin is being considered as a potential material for removal of heavy metal from water. METHODS In this study, we synthesized two m...

Application of modified bentonite using sulfuric acid for the removal of hexavalent chromium from aqueous solutions

Background: Environmental contamination by chromium (Cr) has become an important issue due to its adverse effects on human health and environment. This study was done to evaluate the application of modified bentonite using sulfuric acid as an adsorbent in the removal of hexavalent Cr from aqueous solution. Methods: Adsorbent features were determined using x-ray diffraction (XRD), fourier transf...
